With the education project Debüt-direkt, we encourage teachers and students to leave the traditional classroom setting, be it at school, on the Internet or in the form of visits to music libraries, the studios of Deutschlandfunk Kultur or the Berlin Philharmonic. In this way, we want to open up a new world of listening that is no longer accessible to many young people as a matter of course. Participants in the Debut Direct program receive greatly reduced (orchestra concerts) or free (chamber concerts) tickets for their concerts.
Module 1 – Information. In preparation for the concert visit, teachers are provided with detailed information material on the performing artists, the composers and the works. The students are motivated to do their own research and to actively engage with the concert program.
Module 2 – Production of a radio report. One course or class at a time is given the opportunity to produce a short radio report in the studios of Deutschlandfunk Kultur, which is broadcast during the concert break.
Module 3 – Concert Soloists at School. The debut artists visit a school for two hours the day after the concert. Depending on their interests and arrangements, they can lead a school orchestra rehearsal, coach a chamber music ensemble or give a public instrumental lesson. It is also possible that the artists play something, tell something about the works and themselves and answer questions.
