The city is an aesthetic space of sound and experience. The appropriation and shaping of space in one’s own urban living environment was the thematic focus of this interdisciplinary and intergrade project. In the project Stadtgeflüster, students of different ages, origins and languages have experimentally explored their urban living space in class tandem under acoustic auspices. The question behind this is why and how places where we live together are actually the way we perceive them? In three project weeks, children from a total of 6 school classes explored their sound environment and created experimental audio pieces and film sequences from the results. These results could be heard and viewed in the exhibition Stadtgeflüster at Kunstraum Bethanien.
kultkom was responsible for the project conception and management, the coordination, realization and monitoring of the sound installations as well as public relations.
